Here’s What We Know about the Upcoming 2023 Nissan Z

The Nissan Z platform will be refreshed this year, starting with the 2023 model year. This design was created to be more similar to the classic Fairlady Zs (introduced in the 1970s) but retains the look and feel of previous Z generations. This new model doesn’t stray from Nissan’s model-naming convention, which distinguishes each generation by engine displacement.

The new generation will simply be called “Z,” which we think is smart as SUVs and larger sedans dominate the market. This car is one of the vehicles we are most looking forward to in 2023.

If you’re looking for more details on its features, read the sections below.

Under the Hood

Nissan has announced that the V6 in its 2023 370Z will have 400 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque with a V6 engine. The engine comes in a dual overhead cam configuration at four valves per cylinder with direct fuel injection and continuously variable valve timing, two features new to the model. According to its press release, the manufacturer expects the new model to be approximately 15 percent quicker than the 2018 370Z. The press release quotes Car and Driver’s timed test of the 2018 370Z getting to 60 mph in 5 seconds flat.

The Gear Situation

Nissan is adding a couple transmission options to the engine, Car and Driver reports. The first is a six-speed manual transmission, the same as the one carried over from the 370Z. Nissan will also offer their automatic rev-matching option. The car’s nine-speed transmission will have shorter gear ratios to improve acceleration. They will also come with a carbon-fiber driveshaft, saving weight and faster engine response.

Next-Generation Safety Features

Nissan will be upgrading the Z with a series of new safety aids. Adaptive cruise control will allow it to adjust its speed based on the vehicle in front of it, and a backup camera makes it easier to park. It will also come equipped with a blind spot, collision, and lane departure warning sensors. The Z’s automatic emergency braking system can engage if a collision is imminent. It also has three airbags for each passenger and additional side cushions for head protection during a side impact.

Inside the Z

Nissan reworked the interior to focus on contemporary needs: Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth audio, and XM radio are all available, with USB-A and USB-C ports and two 12V standard outlets. Keyless entry will be incorporated.

The old tachometer is being replaced with a customizable digital gauge cluster, which will display speed, engine revs, and diagnostic information. The tachometer will include a “shift indicator” display on manual models.

This driver’s side digital cluster is supplemented by three distinct analog gauges over the center console; they display turbo pressure, turbo speed, and battery voltage output.

The Seating Arrangement

Exterior dimensions appear unchanged: it’s still a two-seater with open space for cargo in the rear. The placement of the shifter, vents, door handles, and console rotary controls have been updated for a more modern look.

The adjustment options for the sports seats were changed too. The side buttons are now touch-sensitive tap pads; one has a Z emblem while the other is silver. The driver’s seat offers eight-way adjustments: lumbar support, seat position, and thigh support, while the passenger’s side will be adjustable for positioning only. Both sport seats feature a synthetic suede material, though leather can be added as an option.

Conclusion

As you can see, there are many reasons to be excited about the new Nissan Z. From where we’re standing, this is looking to be an amazing addition to the market. Stay tuned for more details!
